The Rainbow Kitchen

Magic

At the Rainbow Magic Kitchen we aim to provide simple yet delicious and exciting range of cooking classes and coaching in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, for all members of the community; individuals, families & mums ‘groups, children & young people, students, people who are recovering from illness or going through it, and anyone who wants to learn cooking or enhance their skills to become proficient, more adventurous and creative in the kitchen whilst being sustainable.

Providing  such a basic skill as cooking and understanding of basic nutrition increases confidence, encourages in making better lifestyle choices but also to enjoy and share a good meal with others which has a positive social impact as it brings the community together. The other advantage is an economical one as cooking rather than buy already made meals can save money and help with budget.
My Story:

Coming from a French family, I have always taken food and wine joyfully and seriously, spending a lot of time in the family kitchen, learning from observing and being immersed from an early age in cooking with delicious fresh products.

I love baking, traditional home food dishes, making chutneys and jams.
Exploring new dishes by tasting and reproducing recipes is a hobby of mine. I enjoy working out the flavours and techniques used. I find exploring various cuisines from around the world and new trends and ideas exciting and I love to share what I learn.

I research and adapt recipes to any special dietary needs and am a nutritional adviser (FutureFit)but also did a short intense training as a chef with Hospitality House in London.

Healthy eating and cooking can be delicious and does not require that much effort nor fancy techniques- I am a home cook striving to broaden my repertoire and share what I learn, to me cooking is life-long learning.

I was a secondary teacher for 15 years in a mixed comprehensive school in Camden, London and before, a puppet maker and puppeteer, I really enjoy creativity, teaching and learning.

In 2013, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was very ill with a heavy treatment.

Food was one thing that helped me through, I would shop at the market in London were I lived, come home, rest, look up recipes, chop and prepare ingredients, rest, then finally  prepare a delicious meal (well, most of the time).

This made me feel good and gave me a purpose for myself and loved ones around me. Doing something for others even though I was so unwell and felt so fragile with this scary diagnosis, boosted my morale.

As I began to recover, having become a survivor, I felt I needed to make some real changes in my world and questioned what made me really happy. I loved teaching but the job was very demanding and at time stressful. I began to organise cooking and baking classes to raise money for various cancer charities and volunteered as a cook for one of them, the Haven which has a lovely café and decided that was what I wanted to do.

Then my partner and I moved to the South Coast, so near the sea.

I began to work with the Sara Lee trust, which gave me the opportunity to run courses for people whose life is affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and am involved in working with  charities that tackle food poverty, such as Warm Up the Homeless, or promote sustainable good and fresh food, notably eating vegetables and fruits with the food foundation and have become a veg advocate with Peas please.

The kitchen and food is giving me the opportunity to be who I want and I love to invite others to join me and discover their own style-and use recipes as a support rather than just obey them. It is alright to change ingredients, and take shortcuts...
I really love to share my skills and work as a team. Please contact us.
